Job Description

Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community with integrity, compassion, and innovation. They are seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources Manager to lead and oversee all HR functions, foster a positive workplace culture, and ensure that their people and organizational practices align with their values.

The Human Resources Manager will manage and execute the full scope of HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, training and development, and payroll oversight using Paylocity. This role serves as a strategic partner to leadership and a trusted resource for employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full range of HR functions in alignment with organizational goals and nonprofit best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and job descriptions.
  • Manage HR reporting, recordkeeping, and audit readiness.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for legal and compliance matters related to HR.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for all positions, from job postings to final offers.
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop staffing strategies and workforce planning.
  • Deliver a consistent and engaging onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Manage background checks, pre-employment documentation, and orientation programs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR-related concerns.
  • Support and enhance a positive, inclusive, mission-aligned workplace culture.
  • Lead conflict resolution, coaching, and performance-related discussions.
  • Manage employee engagement initiatives and culture-building strategies.
  • Oversee the performance review process and support managers in evaluating and developing staff.
  • Identify organizational training needs and coordinate professional development initiatives.
  • Assist leadership with goal-setting, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Oversee biweekly payroll processing through Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain payroll records and process employee changes, including new hires, terminations, and compensation updates.
  • Administer employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave programs.
  • Ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and other leave-related regulations and internal policies.
  • Partner with finance to reconcile payroll and benefits reports as needed.
  • Serve as the internal administrator for Paylocity, optimizing workflows, reporting, and system usage.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HRIS data.
  • Generate and analyze HR metrics to support organizational decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience with Paylocity is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.

Hours: 8am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday with hybrid flexibility (2 days in office and 2 days remote)
